Looking for a few good men who represent Dallas the best..Do you know one?
ONE MAN DALLAS 2012 application period begins February 9th…and only one man can be selected!
Sponsored by Boardroom Salons and Aloft Downtown Dallas Hotel, the ONE MAN Project began in Minneapolis in 2009 and has grown to include Chicago and Dallas. Its initial goal is to recognize men who are active community volunteers and encourage other men to become involved in volunteering by increasing awareness of community needs and volunteer opportunities. The 2011 ONE MAN DALLAS is Raul Magdaleno, Director of Diversity and Community Engagement at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts. Raul personified the mission of the One Man Project – he served on the board of directors for five non-profit organizations, including the SMU Hispanic Youth Institute, which emphasizes the importance of education to youth who might otherwise be overlooked. ONE MAN DALLAS has been a terrific vehicle to raise the visibility of organizations that have had an impact in our communities,” Raul notes. “It is also a project that, in a very unique way, allows me to take the message about the importance of volunteering and serving others with our hearts.”
Just what do they need to represent? Community involvement, personality, intelligence, and fitness are important attributes for men in the Dallas area. For the second year in a row, one man representing the very best of those traits will split $5,000 with his favorite charity and use his passion for the community to encourage other men to get involved in DFW charities and civic projects. Through an application process beginning Thursday, February 9, ONE MAN DALLAS will be chosen from a field of 20 finalists by the public’s online voting and judges who are local community leaders. The project will culminate in a live show featuring the finalists and local entertainment on Thursday, May 10.
Eligibility is simple. Any man between 24 – 44 living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area can enter or be nominated online at between February 9 and March 10. In addition to each applicant’s personal contribution to his community, applicants will be evaluated throughout the judging and interview process on personality, intelligence, and fitness. The semi-finalists will be chosen and their pictures and profiles will be posted for online voting beginning in early April at www.OneManDallas.com.
Four events will be held during the online voting period to allow the public to “Meet the Men.” Happy hour events will feature an opportunity to learn more about the 20 charities affiliated with each finalist, along with signature beverages and complimentary appetizers. Admission is free. The winner will ultimately be announced at the May 10th event.
Where Wear will we be next….
