Where Wear had the privilege of meeting Designer Shemara Jeyarajah of Shemara Couture and touring her new Designer Showcase Room Couture Gallery in the Design District.
Shemara was born in Sri Lanka and moved to Texas at age 12. She has always had a passion for art and design, and pursued her dream by attending the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, interned under the direction of local Fashion Show Producer genius, Jan Strimple and become a talented painter.
Shemara Couture features only the finest fabrics from around the world and designs her one of a kind custom couture creations with your style, favorite color and body type in mind. Shemara consults with each client individually and develops a design that matches your personality and event, ensures the design is perfected with several fittings, includes muslin (cotton) and fabric fittings, which ultimately leads to your final creation! “I always take the time to really get to know each individual as each design I create needs to be representative of their unique personality!” – Shemara Jeyarajah. Shemara is also a fan of mixing different color shades and textures and adding her special touches to her creations (more to come on this in another post)! Valentino and Marchesa are just some of her designer muses!
Shemara Couture’s newly renovated space, Couture Gallery, is now open at 1300 N. Riverfront. Designer Shemara Jeyarajah can create custom men’s and women’s designs for any special occasion. With so many spring galas and events approaching, this is the perfect solution to fighting the crowds at the mall, or the uncertainty of buying online.
What’s next for Shemara Couture? “To see my designs on the red carpet!”-Shemara Jeyarajah. We hope so too!
