From the artist himself: Vincent Coppolino

“Mid-century modern is my favorite design style but, not only is it my favorite style, it is my favorite period in American history, from art, music, literature and fashion. It was “the birth of cool”, it was the beginning of how we live our lives now. It was the end of the old world and in with the new, as we had more free time then ever before to lounge, smoke and drink in our Charles Eames and Henry Miller furniture.

Turning Point

Some of the most free flowing artists came from this period Pollack, Mark Rothko and Kooning. Not to mention Elvis, Miles Davis and the Beatles. Literature from Burroughs, Ginsberg and Kerouac became topics of dinner conversation. And we had one of our greatest presidents, JFK.

I wasn’t born during this time, so I wanted to relive some of the coolness of Mid-Century Modern Life in my shop/gallery. I completed a series of paintings inspired by Mid-Century Geometric Art and mixed media collage with Mid century themes.”-Vincent Coppolino
