California Cool: Day 1

Well what a trip to Northern California it was! The sights, the hotels, the great food and wine, the scenery…it couldn’t get much better! Minus some jet lag and a few mishaps along the way (leaving a bag, losing a credit card and a few missed turns) we survived for the most part! I always say don’t sweat the small stuff! Our Day 1-NoCal adventure began with an excursion into Monterey, CA.

Cannery Row is the “main drag” in Monterey Bay and one of  the most popular sights to see along the Central Coast. This historic waterfront district was made famous by Pultizer Prize winning author-John Steinbeck. You can find Monterey’s best hotels, attractions and recreation, restaurants, shopping and nightlife all in one place!

We stayed the evening at one of Monterey’s top hotels-The Portola Hotel and Spa. Calming residential decor makes this hotel so warm and inviting amongst travelers. Guest rooms included: hypoallergenic pillows, comfortable sleeping arrangements, eco-friendly bath products, and beautiful scenic views of the city, garden or bay. Across from the hotel check out their luxurious Spa on the Plaza too!

Fisherman’s Wharf  houses the promenade overlooking the Marina and Monterey Harbor with an assortment of fine dining, gift shops, art galleries, theater, bait shops, fishing, whale watching excursions and party boat concessions.

**Packing 101: It’s definitely much colder during the summer in Monterey then most Cali spots! Pack for colder weather: sweater, jacket, scarf, pants, and boots or tennis shoes for day sightseeing or biking along the water!

Where Wear will I be next…..
