California Cool: Day 4

Well it’s the last and final day of our Cali adventure (sad:)!  After bidding adieu to San Fran, we headed back where we had arrived days ago and on to Big Sur! By far one of my favorite places on the trip! Known as “the Big South,” this sparsely populated area offers up some of the most stunning and highest views all of Northern California and a definite tourist fixture! We lucked in as the sun was shining bright on our scenic route, which made for some great snapshots!

After capturing some beautiful photos, we decided to stop into the local Village shops to peruse the artwork, jewelry, and gifts at Local Color! Checkout my find-looks amazing stacked with my Michael Kors watch and stackable bracelets!

A little something to remember Big Sur!

After a full day of sight seeing, it was time for a snack at Nepenthe! A great recommendation from my LA-based cousin! The patio has an amzing view went not it’s not foggy! Unfortunately it didn’t open up for us!

Check out Nepenthe’s gift shop-Phoenix Shop and coffee cafe-Cafe Kevah too!

We began our journey back to Carmel, where they greeted us once again with open arms, landing at the boutique hotel-The Cypress Inn, owned by the infamous Doris Day. This pet friendly hotel is about as charming as it gets! Warm hospitality, friendly staff, quaint sleeping quarters, delicious wine and music, topped off with a home cooked breakfast made for the utmost of enjoyment! We especially enjoyed visiting Terry’s Lounge inside the hotel, as its dedicated to Terry Melcher (Doris Day’s late son), who was a producer for the Beach Boys!

My favorite Doris Day movie!

Capping off our final night of the trip was our exquisite meal of: wine pairings, seafood, steak, risotto and creme brulee at Pacific’s Edge Restaurant, followed by karaoke and post drinks at Clint Eastwood’s Post Ranch Inn. An hour too late, as a sighting of the actor was noted!

Packing 101: In Big Sur, bring a warm change of clothes as summer is a bit nippy especially on cloudy days!

Cheers to a fabulous Cali trip!
